FreeFeeds is a free, student-run tool that lists public university events which appear to offer free food. This page explains, in plain terms, what data it does and doesn't handle. We aim to collect as little as possible.

The short version

  • There are no accounts and no login.
  • Your saved and hidden events are stored only on your own device, in your browser. We never see them.
  • We only store personal data if you opt in to notifications— and even then it's just an anonymous browser push token, which you can remove any time.
  • We don't sell data or run advertising trackers.

What's stored on your device (not on our servers)

Your “Want to go” and “Not interested” lists, your theme choice, and your filter preferences are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are not sent to us, and are cleared if you clear your browser data or use the “clear lists” option in Settings.

What's stored on our servers

  • Push notification subscriptions (only if you opt in):if you turn on notifications, your browser gives us an anonymous “push endpoint” so we can send you alerts. It isn't tied to your name or email. Turning notifications off in Settings, or blocking them in your browser, removes it. This is stored in our database (Supabase).
  • Public event and society information: we store details of university events and society Instagram handles gathered from public sources. This is not your personal data.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand how many people use the site. This does not identify you personally.

Where data is held

Data is hosted with our infrastructure providers (currently Vercel and Supabase), which may store it on servers outside Australia. We keep only what's described above.

Your choices

  • Clear your on-device lists any time from Settings, or by clearing browser storage.
  • Turn notifications off to remove your push subscription.
  • Email us to ask what (if anything) we hold about you, or to have it deleted: freefeeds.app@gmail.com.
